Parts for the Fintails: W110, W111, & W112 Mercedes-Benz, Manufactured from 1959-1971. These vehicles are known as 'Fintails' due to the fins on their rear quarter panels, or by the German word 'Heckflosse'. The W111 Mercedes was the first of the fintails, released in August of 1959 with a wider and more square cabin than the earlier Ponton models. The W111 and W112 Mercedes-Benz chassis were mostly 6-cylinder engines with the exception of a couple 3.5L V8 models produced at the end of the run. All Mercedes-Benz W111 and W112 vehicles were S-Class series models with dual headlights and bumpers. They were available in Sedan, Coupe and Cabriolet/Convertible models, with both short and long wheelbase versions available. The Mercedes W110 chassis was an entry-level series (now known as E-Series) fintail chassis with mostly 4-cylinder engines, a shortened hood section, single headlights and bumpers, and a slightly less luxurious interior. They were released in April of 1961 and fully replaced similar ponton models at that time. In 1965 there were some changes made to the body of W110 vehicles.
